Quarterly Communal Fire Door Checks in Ilkeston: questions

Which buildings need quarterly fire door checks?

In England, regulation 10 applies to multi-occupied residential buildings with storeys over 11 metres. All fire doors in the common parts must be checked at least every three months. Lift landing doors are excluded.

Do you work in occupied buildings in Ilkeston?

Yes. Inspections and repairs in Ilkeston can be carried out in occupied flats, schools, care homes and workplaces, with doors kept closable at all times.

Do the checks apply in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland?

No. Regulation 10 is English law. Fire safety law elsewhere in the UK differs in scope, and many landlords and factors adopt the same quarterly routine as good practice.

Does regulation 10 apply to buildings in Ilkeston?

Yes, if the building is a multi-occupied residential building with storeys over 11 metres. Ilkeston is in England, so the quarterly communal door checks and annual flat entrance door checks apply to those buildings.
