Fire Door Installation
Fire Door Installation: Fire door installation is the supply and fitting of a fire-resisting door, ideally as a complete doorset of leaf, frame, seals and hardware, installed exactly as its test evidence and the manufacturer's instructions require, so the finished door performs as tested.
A fire door is only as good as its installation. The tested performance belongs to the whole assembly, so the frame fixings, the packing and fire stopping between frame and wall, the gaps, the hinges and the closer all have to match the evidence. We specify complete doorsets wherever possible and hand over the paperwork that proves what was fitted.

Fire Door Installation: questions
What is the difference between a fire door and a fire doorset?
A fire door often means just the leaf. A doorset is the complete assembly, leaf, frame, seals and hardware, tested and supplied together. Doorsets remove much of the guesswork from installation and are usually the better choice for replacements.
What do FD30 and FD60 mean?
They describe how long the door is designed to resist fire in a test: 30 or 60 minutes. An S after the rating, such as FD30S, means the door also controls the passage of cold smoke.
Can you fit a fire door into the existing frame?
Sometimes, if the frame is sound, compatible with the new leaf and the leaf's evidence allows it. Often a complete doorset is cheaper over the door's life and easier to evidence.
Do you provide paperwork?
Yes. You receive the product's certification or test evidence, an installation record and photographs for each door.
