Fire Door Repairs
Fire Door Repairs: A fire door repair fixes a specific fault on a fire door, such as a broken closer, missing seal, loose hinge or damaged edge, so the door can again close, latch and resist fire and smoke as it was designed to.
Not every job is a programme. A care home with one slamming corridor door, a shop with a damaged stair door or a landlord with a failed flat door just needs it put right properly. We send someone who works on fire doors, not a general handyman, and we photograph the door before and after.

What's included?
- Diagnosis of why the door is failing, not just the visible symptom
- Closer, hinge, latch and lock repairs or replacements
- Missing or damaged intumescent strips and smoke seals replaced
- Edge, lipping and impact damage repaired where the door's evidence allows
- Loose or missing glazing beads refixed with the correct system
- Before and after photographs for your records
When do you need a fire door repair?
- A fire door no longer closes or latches
- A door has been forced, kicked or hit by a trolley
- A seal, closer or hinge has failed between inspections
- A fire risk assessor has flagged a single door as needing repair
What do we check or do on each door?

|---|---|

| Operation | The door closes and latches from fully open before we leave. |
| Photos | Before and after images supplied for your records. |

Fire Door Repairs: questions
Can a damaged fire door be repaired or does it need replacing?
Many faults can be repaired: closers, hinges, seals, small edge damage and beads. Holes through the leaf, major splits, delamination or damage to the frame often mean the door should be replaced. We will tell you which applies and why.
Can you repair a fire door from photos?
We can usually diagnose and price common faults from clear photos of the whole door, the edges and the hardware. Some faults, such as a warped leaf, need a site visit to measure.
Do you use the original manufacturer's parts?
Where they are available and appropriate. Otherwise we use components with suitable fire test evidence for the door type.
Can you fill a large gap with extra intumescent strip?
Not as a general fix. Gaps outside tolerance are usually corrected by re-hanging, lipping or adjusting the frame, because oversized intumescent strips are not a substitute for a door that fits.
