Fire Door Remedial Works

Fire Door Remedial Works: Fire door remedial works are the repairs needed to bring failed fire doors back to their certified performance, carried out as a programme from an inspection report, survey or fire risk assessment action plan.

A remedial programme should close out the report, not start a new argument about it. We price each failed item individually, do the work using components compatible with the door's certification, and photograph every door after the work so the original report can be signed off line by line.

  3. Repair

Work is carried out door by door, normally without taking the door out of service for more than a few hours.

  4. Sign off

You receive after photos and a completion schedule that maps to the original defects.

How much do fire door remedial works cost?

Priced line by line. Typical door with seals and closer adjustment: £90–£180. Guide range £90–£450 per door, ex VAT. We confirm a fixed price once we know the building, door count and access. See all guide prices.

Fire Door Remedial Works: questions

Can you price remedial work from someone else's inspection report?

Yes. Send the report and we will price each line. If the report lacks the detail needed, such as gap readings or photos, we will say which doors need a quick revisit before we can price them.

Will the door still be a certified fire door after repair?

The aim of remedial work is to restore the door's original performance using compatible components and methods. Where a repair would go outside what the door's evidence supports, we will recommend replacement instead.

How long does each door take?

Most doors take one to three hours. Gap correction or glazing work can take longer, and doors are made safe before we leave each day.

Do you work in occupied buildings?

Yes. Most remedial work happens in occupied blocks, schools and workplaces, with doors kept closable and the escape route clear throughout.
