Questions from Eltham clients

Can a fire exit be locked?

It must be openable from inside without a key at all times the building is occupied. Security locks that need a key from inside are not acceptable on escape routes.

Does regulation 10 apply to buildings in Eltham?

Yes, if the building is a multi-occupied residential building with storeys over 11 metres. Eltham is in England, so the quarterly communal door checks and annual flat entrance door checks apply to those buildings.

Can you price remedial work in Eltham from another company's report?

Yes. Send the report and we will price each line for your building in Eltham, or revisit specific doors if the report lacks detail.

Are fire exit doors fire doors?

Not always. Final exit doors to open air often are not fire-rated, but they must still open easily and be maintained.
