Common questions in Aberdare

Are cat flaps allowed in fire doors?

Not unless the flap is part of the door's tested design. A cat flap cut into a fire door, including many flat entrance doors, will normally make it non-compliant.

Do you work in occupied buildings in Aberdare?

Yes. Inspections and repairs in Aberdare can be carried out in occupied flats, schools, care homes and workplaces, with doors kept closable at all times.

Do letter plates on flat doors need to be fire-rated?

Yes, where the flat entrance door is a fire door. Fire-rated letter plates include intumescent liners that close the opening in a fire.

Does regulation 10 apply in Aberdare?

No. Aberdare is in Wales and regulation 10 is English law. The Fire Safety Order 2005 still requires fire doors to be maintained, and many Welsh landlords follow the same quarterly and annual routine as good practice.
