Responsible persons in Letchworth Garden City can book fire door closer repairs with clear reports, useful photos and itemised prices.

A fire door closer is the self-closing device that pulls a fire door shut after it has been opened. If the closer cannot close the door fully into its frame and engage the latch, the door cannot hold back fire or smoke. We use the same method for buildings in Letchworth Garden City.

Questions from Letchworth Garden City clients

My door slams. Is that a fault?

Yes. A slamming door wears hinges and frames and can injure users. The closing speed and latching action can usually be adjusted.

Why won't my fire door close properly?

Common causes are a closer set too weak, a latch out of line with the keep, dropped hinges, a seal binding at the edge, or flooring that has raised the threshold. We find the cause before adjusting the closer.

How quickly can you inspect fire doors in Letchworth Garden City?

It depends on the number of doors and access. Tell us what you need and we will give you the earliest date when you call, and confirm it in writing.

Which fire safety law applies in Letchworth Garden City?

Letchworth Garden City is in England, so the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 applies, together with the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 for multi-occupied residential buildings.
