Questions from Welwyn Garden City clients

What closer does a fire door need?

A closer tested to BS EN 1154 with a power size suited to the door's width and weight, and evidence it can be used on the door type. Concealed closers need specific test evidence for the door.

Which fire safety law applies in Welwyn Garden City?

Welwyn Garden City is in England, so the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 applies, together with the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 for multi-occupied residential buildings.

Why won't my fire door close properly?

Common causes are a closer set too weak, a latch out of line with the keep, dropped hinges, a seal binding at the edge, or flooring that has raised the threshold. We find the cause before adjusting the closer.

Do you work in occupied buildings in Welwyn Garden City?
