Intumescent & Smoke Seal Replacement in Stratford-upon-Avon: questions

Do you cover the area around Stratford-upon-Avon?

Yes. As well as Stratford-upon-Avon itself we cover nearby towns including Warwick, Royal Leamington Spa and Kenilworth.

Can intumescent strips be painted?

Brush and fin smoke seals should never be painted, because paint stops them working. Some intumescent strips tolerate a light coat, but the safest rule is to mask all seals before decorating and replace any that have been painted.

Does regulation 10 apply to buildings in Stratford-upon-Avon?

Yes, if the building is a multi-occupied residential building with storeys over 11 metres. Stratford-upon-Avon is in England, so the quarterly communal door checks and annual flat entrance door checks apply to those buildings.

What is the difference between an intumescent strip and a smoke seal?

An intumescent strip expands in heat to seal the gap during a fire. A smoke seal, often a brush or blade, blocks cold smoke at lower temperatures. Smoke control doors, marked with an S such as FD30S, need both.
