Annual Flat Entrance Door Checks in Paisley

From the PA2 district outwards, we cover Paisley and neighbouring towns such as Renfrew and Clydebank for flat entrance door checks.

Annual flat entrance door checks are yearly checks of each flat's front door and its self-closer. England's regulation 10 makes them a best-endeavours duty above 11 metres; in Scotland the schedule is not set by that regulation, but checking flat doors every year is a sensible way to evidence maintenance. We use the same method for buildings in Paisley.

Annual Flat Entrance Door Checks in Paisley: questions

Can you check the doors from the corridor only?

Part of the check can be done from outside, but the self-closer and the inside face need access to the flat. Where we cannot get in we record what was checked and why the rest was not possible.

Which fire safety law applies in Paisley?

In Scotland, fire safety duties for workplaces, HMOs and other non-domestic premises come from the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006, with new work designed to the Scottish building standards.

What if a leaseholder has fitted a non-fire-rated door?

The report flags it with photographs and the evidence available. The responsible person and fire risk assessor then decide on the action, which may include asking the leaseholder to replace it.

Do you work in occupied buildings in Paisley?

Yes. Inspections and repairs in Paisley can be carried out in occupied flats, schools, care homes and workplaces, with doors kept closable at all times.
