Annual Flat Entrance Door Checks in Consett: questions

How quickly can you inspect fire doors in Consett?

It depends on the number of doors and access. Tell us what you need and we will give you the earliest date when you call, and confirm it in writing.

Can you check the doors from the corridor only?

Part of the check can be done from outside, but the self-closer and the inside face need access to the flat. Where we cannot get in we record what was checked and why the rest was not possible.

What if a leaseholder has fitted a non-fire-rated door?

The report flags it with photographs and the evidence available. The responsible person and fire risk assessor then decide on the action, which may include asking the leaseholder to replace it.

Does regulation 10 apply to buildings in Consett?

Yes, if the building is a multi-occupied residential building with storeys over 11 metres. Consett is in England, so the quarterly communal door checks and annual flat entrance door checks apply to those buildings.
