Questions from Fareham clients

Can a fire exit be locked?

It must be openable from inside without a key at all times the building is occupied. Security locks that need a key from inside are not acceptable on escape routes.

How often should fire exits be checked?

Many responsible persons check them weekly as part of the fire log, with a detailed check at least annually.

Does regulation 10 apply to buildings in Fareham?

Yes, if the building is a multi-occupied residential building with storeys over 11 metres. Fareham is in England, so the quarterly communal door checks and annual flat entrance door checks apply to those buildings.

Do you cover the area around Fareham?

Yes. As well as Fareham itself we cover nearby towns including Gosport, Portsmouth and Waterlooville.
