Questions from Letchworth Garden City clients

Do you cover the area around Letchworth Garden City?

Yes. As well as Letchworth Garden City itself we cover nearby towns including Hitchin, Stevenage and Luton.

Does regulation 10 apply to buildings in Letchworth Garden City?

Yes, if the building is a multi-occupied residential building with storeys over 11 metres. Letchworth Garden City is in England, so the quarterly communal door checks and annual flat entrance door checks apply to those buildings.

What do FD30 and FD60 mean?

They describe how long the door is designed to resist fire in a test: 30 or 60 minutes. An S after the rating, such as FD30S, means the door also controls the passage of cold smoke.

Can you fit a fire door into the existing frame?

Sometimes, if the frame is sound, compatible with the new leaf and the leaf's evidence allows it. Often a complete doorset is cheaper over the door's life and easier to evidence.
