Fire Door Hold-Open Devices in Stowmarket

We provide fire door hold-open devices for buildings in Stowmarket and the IP14 postcode district, from single doors to whole blocks and estates.

A fire door hold-open device keeps a fire door open in normal use and releases it to close automatically when the fire alarm activates. Free-swing closers let the door move freely like an ordinary door, then close it on alarm. We use the same method for buildings in Stowmarket.

Fire Door Hold-Open Devices in Stowmarket: questions

Is it legal to wedge a fire door open?

Wedging a fire door open defeats it, because it cannot close in a fire, and it can breach fire safety law. If a door needs to stay open, use a device that releases it automatically when the alarm activates.

Can you price remedial work in Stowmarket from another company's report?

Yes. Send the report and we will price each line for your building in Stowmarket, or revisit specific doors if the report lacks detail.

Can hold-open devices be used on flat entrance doors?

Generally not on flat entrance doors in residential blocks. They are mainly used on corridor and cross-corridor doors in other buildings, subject to the fire risk assessment.

Which fire safety law applies in Stowmarket?

Stowmarket is in England, so the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 applies, together with the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 for multi-occupied residential buildings.
