Fire Door Hold-Open Devices in Grays

Looking for a fire door hold-open device in Grays? We inspect, repair and replace fire doors across Grays and surrounding parts of Essex, with a door-by-door report and every remedial item priced separately.

A fire door hold-open device keeps a fire door open in normal use and releases it to close automatically when the fire alarm activates. Free-swing closers let the door move freely like an ordinary door, then close it on alarm. We use the same method for buildings in Grays.

Common questions in Grays

Does regulation 10 apply to buildings in Grays?

Yes, if the building is a multi-occupied residential building with storeys over 11 metres. Grays is in England, so the quarterly communal door checks and annual flat entrance door checks apply to those buildings.

Is it legal to wedge a fire door open?

Wedging a fire door open defeats it, because it cannot close in a fire, and it can breach fire safety law. If a door needs to stay open, use a device that releases it automatically when the alarm activates.

Can you price remedial work in Grays from another company's report?

Yes. Send the report and we will price each line for your building in Grays, or revisit specific doors if the report lacks detail.

Do acoustic hold-open devices work with any alarm?

They listen for the alarm sounder, so the sounder must be loud enough at the door. We check the sound level and the alarm type before recommending one.
