Fire Door Hold-Open Devices in Great Sankey

From the WA5 district outwards, we cover Great Sankey and neighbouring towns such as Warrington and Newton-le-Willows for fire door hold-open devices.

In short: a fire door hold-open device keeps a fire door open in normal use and releases it to close automatically when the fire alarm activates. Free-swing closers let the door move freely like an ordinary door, then close it on alarm.

Common questions in Great Sankey

Is it legal to wedge a fire door open?

Wedging a fire door open defeats it, because it cannot close in a fire, and it can breach fire safety law. If a door needs to stay open, use a device that releases it automatically when the alarm activates.

Does regulation 10 apply to buildings in Great Sankey?

Yes, if the building is a multi-occupied residential building with storeys over 11 metres. Great Sankey is in England, so the quarterly communal door checks and annual flat entrance door checks apply to those buildings.

Can you price remedial work in Great Sankey from another company's report?

Yes. Send the report and we will price each line for your building in Great Sankey, or revisit specific doors if the report lacks detail.

How often should they be tested?

With the weekly fire alarm test, and checked in detail at each fire door inspection.
