Fire Door Hinges & Ironmongery in Melton Mowbray: questions

Do you cover the area around Melton Mowbray?

Yes. As well as Melton Mowbray itself we cover nearby towns including Loughborough, Leicester and Oadby.

Can I fit any lock to a fire door?

No. The lock must be suitable for fire doors and fitted within the size limits of the door's evidence, often with intumescent protection around the mortice.

Does regulation 10 apply to buildings in Melton Mowbray?

Yes, if the building is a multi-occupied residential building with storeys over 11 metres. Melton Mowbray is in England, so the quarterly communal door checks and annual flat entrance door checks apply to those buildings.

Are cat flaps allowed in fire doors?

Not unless the flap is part of the door's tested design. A cat flap cut into a fire door, including many flat entrance doors, will normally make it non-compliant.
