Common questions in Newark on Trent

Does regulation 10 apply to buildings in Newark on Trent?

Yes, if the building is a multi-occupied residential building with storeys over 11 metres. Newark on Trent is in England, so the quarterly communal door checks and annual flat entrance door checks apply to those buildings.

How big can the gap under a fire door be?

It depends on the door's evidence. Doors without smoke control often allow a larger threshold gap, sometimes up to around 8 to 10 mm, while smoke control doors usually need 3 mm or less or a tested drop seal.

Do you work in occupied buildings in Newark on Trent?

Yes. Inspections and repairs in Newark on Trent can be carried out in occupied flats, schools, care homes and workplaces, with doors kept closable at all times.

Can you fix a big gap with a thicker intumescent strip?

Not as a general rule. Seals are tested for a particular gap; using oversized seals to hide a poor fit is not a reliable repair.
