Fire Door Gap Adjustment in Motherwell: questions

How big can the gap under a fire door be?

It depends on the door's evidence. Doors without smoke control often allow a larger threshold gap, sometimes up to around 8 to 10 mm, while smoke control doors usually need 3 mm or less or a tested drop seal.

Can you price remedial work in Motherwell from another company's report?

Yes. Send the report and we will price each line for your building in Motherwell, or revisit specific doors if the report lacks detail.

Why do gaps open up over time?

Hinges wear and drop, frames shrink or move, leaves warp, and doors are sometimes planed after flooring changes. Each needs a different repair.

Does regulation 10 apply in Motherwell?

No. Motherwell is in Scotland, which has its own fire safety law. The Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Fire Safety (Scotland) Regulations 2006 cover workplaces, HMOs and other non-domestic premises; common parts of private blocks of flats are largely outside them.
