Questions from Gloucester clients

Can you fix a big gap with a thicker intumescent strip?

Not as a general rule. Seals are tested for a particular gap; using oversized seals to hide a poor fit is not a reliable repair.

How quickly can you inspect fire doors in Gloucester?

It depends on the number of doors and access. Tell us what you need and we will give you the earliest date when you call, and confirm it in writing.

How big can the gap under a fire door be?

It depends on the door's evidence. Doors without smoke control often allow a larger threshold gap, sometimes up to around 8 to 10 mm, while smoke control doors usually need 3 mm or less or a tested drop seal.

Does regulation 10 apply to buildings in Gloucester?

Yes, if the building is a multi-occupied residential building with storeys over 11 metres. Gloucester is in England, so the quarterly communal door checks and annual flat entrance door checks apply to those buildings.
